The daughter (Maggie) of an MI5 agent is raised in the US after her parents deaths. She returns to England to become an MI5 agent herself. This is in spite if her accent and habit of returning her fork to her right hand after using her knife. She cannot pass the physical requirements at a special spy school that would have allowed her to be under cover in Berlin during WWII. She is assigned to teach Princess Elizabeth maths while protecting her from a plot at Windsor castle. I did not like any of the predicaments and twists in the story. The death of a lady-in-waiting while horseback riding, the confrontation with her assigned misogynistic boss, anything while on the sub and on and on. The fact that I am not in the habit of watching shows about the royals could have contributed to my lack of interest in this book. I did not find Maggie believable as a character either. The ending of the book where she finds out about her mother and will now be sent into Berlin after all was a mess. It does not make me want to read the next in this series at all.

It’s brain candy. Enjoy it but don’t get brain cavities!

Maggie Hope wanted to be a spy sent into Germany, but she’s not physically in good enough shape, so she is given another assignment, to protect Princess Elizabeth from a possible German plot to kidnap her and give the crown to her uncle, the Duke of Windsor.

This book, like the first one in the series, is full of suspense, plot twists, and interesting tidbits about power behind the scenes in England during the war. I had more foreshadowing than I might have wanted, but there were enough surprises to throw me off, for the most part. I especially enjoyed learning about codes and how they were broken.

Like the first book, the historical story and the plot merged with the story of Maggie’s personal life in unexpected ways that I also enjoyed.

Not quite as good as the first in the series. There's a plot by the Germans to kidnap Princess Elizabeth. Maggie is sent in to uncover the perpetrators. In the end Maggie gets quite a surprise about her mom. The end definitely leaves you hanging for the next book.

I really liked the first book in this series, but this one was just awful. A huge part of the plot of taken directly from the TV show Alias, and I just can't get past the complete lack of originality. The book was also really poorly edited and riddle with factual (e.g., Princess Margaret's age is wrong, the CIA didn't exist in 1941) and continuity errors (e.g., a character mentions needing to solve a murder when the murderer had already confessed to the crime 20 pages previously). So disappointing.

Maggie can't seem to make it physically at the spy camps, so she gets sent out to work with a young Princess Elizabeth as her math tutor. Of course she's really there to secretly be a spy for the princess, but no one knows it.

This book is so good! I love the nods of young Lilibet writing to Phillip. We obviously know what happens there. The plot is very fast-paced and entertaining to read! It really keeps me on my toes. The end of each book so far has had a pretty significant twist, which is great! Can't wait to read more.

Great #2 in this series. An easy read, but several twists and turns to keep you  interested.
