Not Just Gal Pals is sort of an enemies to lovers, but that mostly has to do with miscommunication. Blake has had a crush on Jenny since they were in high school. Jenny comes back to town, taking a break from her Instagram influencer career for her friend's wedding. Both Jenny and Blake also happen to both be bridesmaids for their mutual friend.

Throughout all of the bridesmaids shenanigans and Jenny trying to keep up with her influencer job, her and Blake slowly become friends. Eventually, they let their feelings out, and then they can't really keep their hands off each other.

I felt like there was quite a bit of character development, as well as plot. The book was well paced until the last 15-20%, I feel like - which is really my own personal complaint. I feel like it wrapped up too quickly and it felt like the author was just trying to push out an ending, or like she got bored with it.

Without giving too much away, there's a part where a character accidentally goes to the wrong place, and instead of knowing the character feels or the panic that would come along with that, she just says that someone is going to pick her up, and that's it. I think that was the part that upset me the most.

Overall, this was a quick, fun read. I'd recommend it to someone wanting to read a rom-com over the weekend, or just wanting to read a fun book.

This was fun, a bit slower-paced that I'd have liked, but an overall enjoyable read with fun characters and a lighthearted approach to the rom-com story.

Such a cute, cozy rom com! This had amazing fall vibes. It truly was like sipping a pumpkin spice latte, taking a stroll through a pumpkin patch in the crisp fall air and falling in love.

These cozy romances make me so happy. I followed my spouse around the house while telling them about all the cute stuff in this one. They think I’m weird for getting so excited for book characters but I can’t help myself.

I absolutely loved this book. This is one of the best fall type “hallmark movie” romcom books I’ve ever read. Everyone need to read it, and it’s on KU!

This book was SO CUTE. Super cozy, queer, love story in a quaint small town with all the fall vibes. Great cast of characters. Can't wait for the next in the series!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book.

I saw the cover and immediately knew I had to read this, it just looks like sapphic fall perfection and it really was that. The vibes, mood and setting were so perfect, a small town somewhere between New England and New York in fall, the MCs enjoying some classic fall activities, it was all just so good and made me so excited for fall.

The romance itself was really cute, I loved the "seemingly enemies" to lovers, grumpy/sunshine and slow opening up to one another. I also loved that the third-act conflict was kept quite short, I saw the author describe this book as cozy/low-stakes/feel-good and it really is just that.

I felt like the setup of the story with Jenny being "canceled" was almost unnecessary, it just felt a bit weird to me. It wasn't a big part of the plot, but the prologue had me raising my eyebrows. So if you feel the same, just keep going, because it doesn't come up a lot after that.
Because of that, my actual rating would be 4,5 stars, but I decided to round it up because I really loved everything else.

Overall, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a romance novel to read this fall!

I was unfortunately underwhelmed by this book. The premise is good; an "enemies"-to-lovers sapphic holiday romance is never a wrong move. But between Jenny's obsession with internet fame (yes, I know she's an influencer, but it's just a bit much) and everyone else's obsession with Blake being an amazing healthcare hero, it doesn't leave as much room for substance. It felt like too many cliches shoved together ("Gay girls LOVE lesbians in flannel at Christmas!"), without the real emotions. Not to mention it felt like a direct copy of 'In the Event of Love,' by Courtney Kae.

I have received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
