This is my first Ishiguro book; I found this after enjoying the film version of "Never Let Me Go." I was really surprised by its touches of slapstick humor, which offset the heavier themes of isolation and melancholy that run throught the book's five stories. Like a good CD, the music-heavy Nocturnes mixes things up but never lags.

Kazuo Ishiguro is such a great storyteller. I breezed through this collection of short stories, envisioning myself there as I read. I really enjoyed this break from reality!

This is the first of Kazuo Ishiguro's works that I've read and I definitely read it quickly, so I was interested. But I'm not sure that I really loved it or thought it was particularly impressive. I know that he's very well-respected though, so I'm sure I shouldn't judge his writing just based on one work.
