To be honest, I was kind of dreading reading "Nocturnes." It wasn't because I thought that the book sounded uninteresting or dull, but rather because I was disappointed with "When We Were Orphans." In case you can't tell from the rating I've left at the top, I liked "Nocturnes" a good deal better. While I don't think that it was exceptionally profound, I enjoyed every story that was told. Granted, I wished some (specifically "Malvern Hills") had lasted longer, but none of the stories overstayed their welcome.
In a word, I would describe the book as pleasant. The stories were also funny and engaging, while simultaneously dealing with fairly interesting themes about perspective and how peoples' lives can be affected by music.
I would recommend this book to people who are interested in lighter, loosely interconnected short stories with music at their core.

The first story was so gripping that the rest came off as a joke. I completely, and eerily, related to the narrators until halfway through the second story and narrator when I realized it was a cheap slapstick. Then it became almost a chore to finish the collection, the collection itself getting progressively worse with each story.

Dạ khúc là tập truyện ngắn đầu tiên(?) của Ishiguro. Đúng như tên gọi của cuốn sách, cao trào của cả năm câu chuyện đều diễn ra trong màn đêm buông xuống, kèm theo đó là cái bóng trải dài của những người nhạc sĩ đang vật lộn với hoặc hoài niệm những giấc mơ tàn lụi.
Vấn đề khiến Dạ khúc chỉ được cho mỗi 3⭐ không nằm ở việc tài năng của tác giả không đủ, từ ngữ ông dùng không được trau chuốt hay có sức biểu cảm; mà là bởi (không biết ông vô tình hay cố ý) luôn đưa ra câu hỏi và bỏ lửng câu trả lời. Kết thúc mở, nhưng thay vì cố gắng suy ngẫm tự đi tìm lời giải của bài toán, người đọc chỉ cảm thấy hụt hẫng, thấy câu chuyện thiếu một điều gì đó để đạt được đến sự thăng hoa.
Viết đến đây bất chợt nghĩ sự thiếu hụt này có thể cũng một phần nào giống với cảm xúc của các nhân vật trong truyện rồi... và nếu tác giả cố tình thật thì ác quá 😭

I wasn't a fan of this collection of short stories. I love The Buried Giant, and I feel like Ishiguro story-telling needs the space that a short story is unable to provide. The thorough look at human-relationships that exist in the Buried Giant and When We Were Orphans (currently reading) was very lacking in these short stories. These relationships, and the relationships between instances of time, are what make Ishiguro such a pleasure to read.
Okej, novellsamling med tema som är bra och intressant. 2 av novellerna va otroligt bra. Resten lämnade inte så stort intryck, så får bli en trea tyvärr. Men ja sku nog rekommendera o läsa dom två ja gilla mest!! Crooner och Nocturne
