A better book on intelligence, music, computers, art, Zen buddhism and tortoises has never been written. I dare you to prove me wrong.

I reread this book more often than I probably should and discover something new and wondrous every time.

This book is not for everyone. You need a bit of patience and unflappability to deal with the sudden shifts, the wordplay, and the math (the bane of my existence as I haven't done math in a decade). But your efforts will truly be rewarded with GEB.

It is clumsy at times, but with its fictional dialogs it is a great entertaining approach to mathematical philosophy - quite a tome, so not one book that you may want to pick up every year, but definitely worth a re-read every so often.
