I started it for the romance and finished it for the plot (only because the romance sucked). This book would have been so much better if they removed the romance (which coming from me means it was really really bad) and focused on MC's work in the resistance. Also there were waaay to many pregnancies.

I am completely emotionally destroyed. This book was amazing and Kristin Harmel really knows how to pull on your heartstrings.
This book is about Ruby Benoit, who becomes involved with harboring downed pilots in her apartment during WWII as part of the French Resistance after her husband Marcel - who was actively doing this under Ruby's nose - dies.
This book is also about Charlotte, who comes to live with Ruby after her parents are taken away for being Jewish, and who becomes part of the Resistance in her own way.
Alone the way, both women meet the love of their life, and this story becomes more and more heartbreaking as it goes on. I found myself totally enraptured by Ruby's and Charlotte's bravery. They both refused to give up despite it becoming more dangerous to be part of the Resistance.
But not only is this a story about the French Resistance and WWII, this is a story about lasting love and how you'll go to the ends of the earth to be with this one person forever.
I very rarely cry while reading, but this one brought me to tears. If you enjoyed the Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, you're bound to enjoy The Room on Rue Amelie.
