This was one of the shows I grew up watching and caught it on Netflix too, so I picked up where certain things came from. It was funny in parts and it takes me back.

5 out of 5 stars.
------------------------------------------------

At least that's what I said the first time I'd read it. Since reading it in April of 2017, my fiance and I acquired the complete series (which unfortunately is NOT called 'The Full Bouquet' like the British release), and we have watched the entire series about three times since 2017. I wouldn't necessarily say that I've become an expert on this show, but I can at least spot inconsistencies and impossibilities.

There are inaccurate quotes throughout this little book. The minor ones that don't matter much are the ones where there's a word missing from the quote or its been slightly reworded. But as an example, Hyacinth claims that her sister Rose said "it's us women who suffer." It wasn't Rose. It was the wife of one of Rose's lovers. At other times, words have been omitted from the quotes. I don't think they expected people to notice these errors. Then again, this book was written at a time before the technology boom and DVD releases, so, "Oh, well." I may be one of the only people to notice it 25 to 30 years later.

As a bonus, there was a quote from the episode where they didn't know they'd met a Lord. A quote was included that wasn't in the episode. I suppose you could say that it evens everything out, but I'm not so sure. Over on page 133, they changed one of Hyacinth's lines from "Can't you find a more Christian tie?" to "Can't you find a more caring tie?"

One of the oddities of this book is that Hyacinth Bucket occasionally recalls things that she couldn't have possibly known about. Kind of like the older Rose in 'Titanic.'

There was horrible photo shop on page 82. They decided to take a random photo of someone meeting HM the Queen (with permission, I assume) and place a smiling photo of Patricia Routledge over the face of whomever it was.

Page 126 - 133 is about a tea date that wasn't in an episode (at least not in the complete series set my fiance and I have). Mrs. Councillor Nugent (and I still can't believe that's her REAL name) is looking for people to put on one of her social causes committees. They did, however, use a couple lines from a completely different episode and merged it with this new tea date. Odd.

I still love this show and find it very funny at times, but the book is not 5 star quality once you've seen the entire series a few times (just my opinion.) 3 out of 5 stars.

4.5 stars, rounded up because I love the show so much. This is a novelization of some of the funny moments from the show as narrated by Hyacinth. She’s quite a character!
