This book has me feeling all kinds of ways. This book started off like any other romance book I’ve read, where the boy is playing hard to love & the girl is head over heels. This of course pissed me off & when Tate kept forgiving some of the messed up things Miles did, I was basically screaming. Granted, his past was different than what I was expecting & set it aside from some of the more predictable “pasts” of the “troubled boys” in a way it partially made up for the cliches. The other thing I DESPISED was how his part is written as a poem. It was childish, annoying, and cringy. BUT the entire time I was reading this book, I was holding my breath. The scenes were just the right amount of spicy & intense. I really can’t hate on the book that much as I finished it in less than a day. It kept me wanting more.

I enjoyed this one. You can find issues with a lot of books but sometimes you just enjoy something in a guilty pleasure way.
Reading about these two characters boinking and the drama that came from Miles not wanting any kind of relationship or love was good fun for me. It just reminds me of the historical romances I grew up reading. High drama and bit of banter. I've been sick since Friday so just want to read the fiction version of junk food.
I liked the writing and I even liked the weird format of the chapters for Miles POV. It was like two love stories in one- Tate and Miles in the present with their fucked up relationship and Rachel and Miles in the past. I felt for both relationships.
The big reveal wasn't quite what I expected but obviously was a traumatic event and had me in tears. I didn't think it was a solid reason for Miles to give up on love for SIX YEARS but in the end, it was an enjoyable book for me. I couldn't stop reading. I liked the characters even when they were being stupid. I believed in their attraction to each other.
I think this was my favorite Colleen Hoover book(I've read Slammed, Point of Retreat and Maybe Someday). I also loved Slammed but I liked the heat in this one.

Spoiler
I understand that Miles was a prick to Tate at times during this book. I didn't read too much into this because he was pretty upfront about only wanting someone to have sex with and I felt like Tate agreed to this but expected more from the beginning. I don't think you can lay complete blame on either one of them. They both made unwise decisions. I did think it was pretty pathetic of Tate to allow Miles to "finish" after saying Rachel's name during sex. It all added that drama to the book and I enjoyed the drama.rachelreadsandthings's review against another edition

I have lost my CoHo virginity and the emotional damage is real!
This was exactly the kind of romance I like- where it’s not super light and fluffy, there’s emotional drama, and it’s not 100% about the romance only. I also want to throw in that I’m not a huge fan of steamy scenes in books, a lot of times I find them cringey, but I thought they were done really well in Ugly Love, and I appreciated that they were more focused on the tension and the dynamic between Tate and Miles.
I flew through this book, I was so curious to find out what had happened in Miles’ past and to see if he and Tate ended up together. I cried multiple times, I felt frustrated for Tate, and I felt that Miles’ character could very well have been a real person. And, most importantly, I’m obsessed with Cap and I want to be his best friend.
There were times while reading Ugly Love where I kept thinking to myself “I hate this”, but then of course I kept reading and couldn’t put it down. After probably the 5th time of thinking “I hate this, Miles sucks” I literally had to stop reading for a few minutes to analyze why I kept thinking that- and it’s because it was too real! Humans are emotional and messy and damaged, and even when we try our hardest to make the right decisions, inevitably we end up making mistakes and hurting people at some point. After coming to terms with that thought, I loved the book even more.
Amazing book, thank you to the person who recommended this one, and I will definitely be reading more of Colleen Hoover’s books after this.

This book irritated me so much. Tate has this man Miles walk all over her like a doormat… GIRL. You are better than this!! Miles is also terrible. This book is just all around disappointing.

The story line was interesting enough in this but I kinda hated the way Tate spoke and it was a little too much "oh I'm a boy who's scared of love and im broken" for me
