Jack Daniels #5
Police Detective Series.
I would recommend having read previous books here. While the story itself is kind of standing on its own, part of the story is a throw back to a previous book, as in one of the numerous bad guys here was a broke out of prison to seek revenge.
The book reads like an action movie. All the characters coming together in an article intense situation with a little comedy mixed in.
I have been enjoying this series for a not to serious but can be dark mystery/detective book.

Jack Daniels, 5

Talk about complete opposites. Fuzzy Navels are sweet and lovely to imbibe while this particular drink is tense and downright scary to swallow.

Wow. I admit I got about a quarter of the way into this book and then just started speed reading. It's just stupid. No real story to follow, just everyone being shot and beaten and getting out and coming back in and fighting amongst themselves and and and stupidity that's not even close to believable. It's so disappointing. I've been really enjoying this series until now. This book was bad enough to make me consider dumping it. It may happen yet because the cliffhanger ending almost promises more of the same in the next book.

If you haven’t read this series yet, you should probably start now. Just sayin. They are centered around Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels of the Chicago Police Department. I don’t want to say too much on the plot here since this is 5th book in the series. I will say that this is been my favorite one so far. They are literally laugh out loud funny (I got quite a few odd stares at work) while also having a heavy plot. You need the comedy to stomach some of the murders Jack deals with. The characters in these books will really grab your attention and you will be in love! Please, if you read any of the books I read this year.. give these a try!

Would I recommend this book? Yes, yes, yes, yes! Seriously… so funny. Why are you still reading this? Go and read the first book ‘Whiskey Sour’ now!

Enjoyed this one! It had a lot going on, but it still didn't get too ridiculous. A good combo of funny and action and some (some) horror but it all came together well. Cliffhanger ending to boot!

That was brutal. Negatives: The whole book was pretty much a gun fight, and I didn't like the POV of the snipers. They annoyed me. And can we PLEASE get rid of the Kork family for the love of? Jack, please retire and go sit on a beach and drink a Piña colada, (name idea for a new book???) before you die in the line of duty. Positives: Still love these characters. We're like family at this point. [a:Blake Crouch|442240|Blake Crouch|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1264134132p2/442240.jpg] was the Deputy Chief, and that made me smile. I love me some Crouch. In fact, he's the reason I started reading Konrath novels since they are BFF's, so I appreciated the hat tip to him. I'm not sure he appreciates being described as a mole with beady eyes and the nickname of Grouch, though :) Cliffhanger ending has me off to read #6!

This was good, but that ending killed me. Subtracted a star for it. And I already read the next book, but I can't remember the answer to the cliffhanger.
