This book was really good. The writing is beautiful, and there is a lot to the plot. I enjoy how the author went back and forth through past and present to tell this story. This book has a surprising ending, in my opinion. I wasn't sure how this book would end and I think the way the plot played out was really clever. Overall liked this book, loved the writing.

A very good book. Sometimes incredibly sad (I wanted to hold little Kya in my arms so bad), and overall very touching.
The plot was interesting, with many plot twists.
Not 5⭐️ because it was a bit slow sometimes with too many descriptions of nature for my tast.

I adored this novel. I read it outside, on a hot, muggy day and fully immersed myself in the swamp that Kya lives in. I'm writing this review a few years after reading it. While I don't remember every little detail, I remember how the book made me feel, and that's the most important part of a novel IMO. This book is tugs on your heartstrings in the best of ways. I've always been a crier, so it's not a surprise this book made me sob for Kya and with Kya. I highly recommend it.

Awwwww I loved this book. I loved this book right away. I listened to it while working in my garden, refinishing furniture, and never wanted to stop. I loved the main character. There are only a couple of things that she does that I dont understand and irritate me. But other than that, the romance is beautiful. The added in mystery is fun, and I actually want to read this book again. I loved it.
