It's fun, but honestly I expected a lot more from the book. It sadly focuses mostly on Mort rather than Death, which you might have assumed would be the case from the title, but I thought it would be about Death and I was let down there. Mort is about as bland of a protagonist as you can have. I liked a few things about his character arc, but honestly it just felt very mediocre.

The romance didn't really work. I didn't really understand the way the plot unfolded in certain sections.

That said, there are stretches of this book that I loved and the character Death steals every scene he's in. There's also some wonderful humor in here, though I didn't find it quite as funny as say Guards Guards.

I imagine I'll be reading quite a few more from Discworld. It's a wonderful series of books.

Pretty good, not my favorite. It's definitely a bit rougher than the later fiction. Gets an extra half-star for one of my favorite puns in the series, though. Introduction to Death!
