3.5 stars. Messy yet emotional conclusion to Jade’s journey. Like all three of these books it could use some editing and tightening of the plot. The story is all there you just have to get through Jade’s rambling stream of consciousness. Don’t fear the reaper was the best in the series.

Stephen Graham Jones, you encyclopedia of slashers, you master of the genre, what a way to round out the trilogy. From the dedication page (oh my GOD) to our chainsaw-hearted (of gold) final girl of final girls, this book was a masterpiece. It is everything I love about horror. I was laughing, I was cheering out loud, I was weeping. This book has so much heart (and also so much gore, just so so much gore), I know I won't be able to get it out of my head. Here's to Sidney, Laurie, Ripley, Jade Daniels. And to Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, Stephen Graham Jones.

Paperback/ audiobook- I have a lump in my throat from this series that I don’t think will ever fully go away.

Never in my life did I ever think that a slasher series would break my heart open and have me open mouth crying on one page, laughing the next, and on and on and on it goes.

Dense, complicated prose. Difficult to parse at times but usually very worth the trouble. I will be thinking about Jade Daniels for a long time.
