I was disappointed in not getting any closure.

So I've been waiting on this one for a while since reading multiple places how creepy and suspenseful it is. It definitely has some creepy moments. It's nowhere near what I would call suspenseful. I'm not even sure I understand the point of the story.

A well-crafted story about the perfect nanny who....

The unfolding of her story of her life and background was captivating. We gradually are spun up in her web of madness.

It made sense and yet it was senseless.

I didn’t follow why so much was made of her debts. Yes, they were inherited from her husband but she was incredibly parsimonious only had one dress, and never seemed to buy anything. But perhaps the inveterate lateness in paying rent was a signal of her underlying breakdown? The debts were needed so she was desperate, so she saw a new baby as a solution.

Didn’t quite hang together for me but I can forgive that as it was such a gripping read.

Based on the true story of a nanny who in 2012 murdered the children in her care. This was well written and intriguing but so, so disturbing.

Very well told story about the delicate balance of the soul. It floats between the mother and the nanny, with a soft kind of terror that creeps up to you in a way you never saw coming. I am floored.
