I have never read any of the other five books in this series. I thought this one sounded interesting. The cover grabbed my attention and to be honest, if I had not won a copy of this book than I may not have check it out. I liked the first story. It was more of a full length one. The rest of the short stories were ok. I did like that they all took place in different locations across the globe. Some of them I liked better than others. I wished that this anthology actually only featured about 1 or 2 stories less and just made the rest into more full length stories. The graphics were great. They did help give a good visual of each story in great details. The stories are graphic in nature with guts spilling out and people decapitated. So if you can't handle gore than you have been warned.

Well this one fell a little flat. It drifts around in history of vampires, little short stories. It's not particular interesting or entertaining. I sure hope the next one is better.

The anthology issue is worth the price of admission alone.

Oh, this is a bit of a mess. This volume is a one-shot story and a collection of shorts from the world of American Vampire. It doesn't fit directly into the story line, and for that it made this one fall flat for me. The first part, the one-shot story The Long Road To Hell, was a really good. It saw the return of Travis Kidd, one of my favorite secondary characters from the series. But the 2nd half of this collection that didn't stream together even though they tried to make them, leaving no breaks between each story, just jarring changes in illustrations. Some were good, like Essence of Life. But overall it just didn't do it for me at all. 3 stars for The Long Road To Hell and 1 star for all the shorts. So average of a 2 star rating for it as a whole.

I almost never like anthology comics, and this was no exception. I just wanted to get back to the main storyline.

This volume consists mostly of vignettes from guest contributors offering stories and characters operating in the spaces of the American Vampire narrative up to this point.

I thought the book was ok but I gave it 3 stars because I love the series. I wasn't too thrilled that this volume was part anthology though. I loved that the first story started off in the 50's. I really wanted to find out about what happened to the other charachters from the previos volumes. I was slightly disappointed by that.

Anthology comics are hard to rate. None of these short stories had anything to do with advancing the main plot really. Some were entertaining, some were not.
