I find any book that features Lizzie Borden to be interesting. I pretty much live down the road. This was not really about Lizzie the alleged murderer. It was about Lizzie the person, only she's a supporting character. The story is told from Amanda's point of view. A 13 year old girl vacationing at the shore in the wake of WWI befriends her neighbor, the elderly (to her) Lizzie Borden and relies on Miss Lizzie through a coming of age that includes the hatchet murder of her own step-mother. The book is lyrical. The characters are startlingly well drawn. The clues were available. Some of them. It was just wonderful.
