HfHDW starts with where book 8 left off: Tori and Beniamin are lost in Hell. The stumble upon a cave that smells safe, and are able to relax.. until the residents return. Three demon wolves who claim Tori and Beniamin are their long lost brother and mate reincarnated. Flashback scenes reveal how Jezebeth the djinn stole the demon wolf souls and created the Amaroki species. Tori and Beniamin must fight the temptation to join the brothers, try to find a way to return to their world, and face the impending danger of Beniamin's shifter brothers and fathers who still hunt them in Hell. Will the two accept the help of the strangers who feel so familiar? Or will they succumb to the perils of the wasteland?

HfHDW was almost like a standalone at the same time as it was a continuation of the bigger storyline. I really enjoyed learning about the origins of the Amaroki species, despite the heartbreak caused by the actions. Seeing the goddess Amara and her mates discovering their powers was the perfect bandage for Jezebeth's damage. Tori ans Beniamin were faced with an impossible decision, and I'm glad they were able to make a decision in the end and get their HEA.. or HFN because there's a sequel to the demon wolf story coming this summer.

I'm so invested in this series. Tara West is a one click author for me, and I look forward to the continuation of her HfHW series!
