I went into this figuring it’d be a steamy little monster romance, maybe with some dark themes and an interesting, mysterious plot, but I wasn’t expecting to CRY SO MUCH. (Aveda, darling, you will be hearing from my lawyers; I’m suing for emotional damages.)

I love these precious, broken characters. They are each endearing in their own ways, (Agony especially). I’m gonna be honest, the crime-solving part of the plot kind of took a back seat in my mind; all I cared about was the romance and all of its angsty sexual tension, lol.

Pick this one up if you’re into the idea of a throuple involving a shape-shifting mass of shadows that can, ahem, accommodate a variety of needs. 😉

I love Aveda's writing style, so it is not surprising that I loved this book. I wasn't sure how I felt about adding a new partner to the relationship after reading Skin, but I think Agony was a perfect addition to the group. Agony fit them perfectly, and managed to balance the relationship and force Flint and Agony to start communicating better. I also liked that each relationship was developed individually, as well as a group, although I do wish we had seen more Flint and Agony alone because I loved those two the most. Plus we got all my favorite things: banter, steam, and pinning.

And although there were some parts of the books that I felt had slow pacing, I liked that there was a sort of mystery to solve. I think it anchored the story and gave space for the relationships to develop in way that made sense.

I received a copies of the book as a member of the author's patreon.

4.5 stars. I received and ARC of this in exchange for a fair review.

Aveda Vice is such a fantastic writer. This was very different from her other books I've read, but I adored it in the end. This story has a darker vibe with the kinap/murder mystery plot that runs counter to the romance. I loved the mystery plot, even though I did think it took a while to hit. Once it was in full swing, the book was moving very quickly and I clicked with it a lot more. Bonus: she tied in some characters from her newer Wed in the Wild series!

The emotional component of this book was so incredibly beautiful for a book about monsters, haha. Each MC had something they needed to work through in order to trust the other two in the relationship. I don't know how Aveda does it, but it was a great story to unravel. In the end, this throuple really had me as a fan and I would love to see them come up in other books!

CW: Monster body parts, discussion of serial killer case, young girls in jeopardy, daddy kink, threesome grouping, desecration of a sorta religious site

Hands down my favorite written by Aveda and my goodness, grab the tissues. I was not expecting the emotional overload that would have me in tears. I just want to hug them all, I cry. Ugh, my heart, someone come take care of it.

All I have to say is that Skin did not prepare me for what was going to come, emotionally, in Inextricably Tied. I couldn't stop reading, it was a full immersion into their story AND I may have had to read certain parts, just to make sure I had the correct visual ;-)

There are a lot of elements happening in this story, including the undeniable feelings between Harbinger and Flint, but also trying to solve a bit of a mystery. While their work relationship is strong and they no doubt have each other's back, there are still some unknowns when it comes to being together as a couple. And my goodness once we get to each individual POV during this process, it was so much more emotional than I thought it would be especially with Flint.

Agony was the most unexpected character, I remained open-minded because I wanted to see where their character development would take us. Agony was just pure perfection, all lovely things about them. I was just trying to visualize what they looked like!

I loved seeing them work through everything, there was so much growth that had me over the moon. And of course, top-tier steam, Aveda writes that perfectly!

It's been so great seeing so much growth with Aveda's writing and I'm so excited for the next release in Wed in the Wild.
