Pretty standard for extreme horror, it was gory and the story was alright, nothing particularly special but it was a quick read and I didn't mind it.

Well this book was just plain bad.
The premise is a good one but the actual story and the way it is told is...less than good.
There are a lot of reasons I didn't enjoy this book:
The author loves to use ellipses. Way too much - pretty much every page had more than one use of it - and I just found it distracting and unneeded. I have nothing against using ellipses (I even used it above) just not that much.
The typos! Seriously now, if you are going to charge people to read your book at least make sure all of the typos are ironed out (and there are quite a few in the version I read).
And onto the story itself. The first whole half of the book is basically a story about relationship issues. Yes you need to get to know the characters but jeez did it drag on and on. Then when it did eventually get to the good bits (not going to put in any details) the book was nearly finished and I didn't find any scenes particularly scary or suspenseful - in fact it was pretty much predictable at a few points.
I also think that there was one particular theme (if you can call it that - again not going to say exactly as I don't want to include any spoilers) that was overdone. I don't mean the gore itself, that's fine, but those who have read the book might know what I mean.
I'm never usually this critical about books but I just can't think of anything positive to say, sorry.
Why not give only one star after saying all of that? Because it's meant to be a gory book and it delivers in that sense. And it's Christmas, you can't give someone one star on Christmas :)
