took me a little bit to get into the rhythm of rick’s writing style of the multiple POVs, but I love the new developments of this world & am so excited to read the rest of the series

"Love is powerful, Piper. It can bring even the gods to their knees."

This was so good! I enjoyed it more than I expected! Honestly I tried reading this book way back when I first read the Percy Jackson series, but I just couldn't get into it! So after 8 years I finally read it.

I loved being able to get more of this universe and I actually really enjoyed the third-person perspective and the multiple narrators. The writing is just what I'd expect from Rick Riordan, entertaining and fun! I was pretty familiar with the main characters even before reading this (I've seen LOTS of spoilers for this series in general tbh) and honestly I expected Jason to be a lot worse! I honestly didn't find him too boring, although I do think the Piper/Jason relationship was rushed? Like do they even really know each other?

"To be perfect, you have to feel perfect about yourself— avoid trying to be something you're not."

Leo was my favourite character of the 3! His back story was interesting and his powers were so cool!8 He also had the most personality and had good reasons for his choices (he also had a DRAGON!!!). I don't think Piper was bad either, her chapters were interesting however she was a bit repetitive in some of her chapters and just didn't make sense to me sometimes. But she was actually cooler than I expected. I also loved the cameos from other characters, but whenever Annabeth was in a scene I couldn't help but wish she was one of the narrators instead.

"Now he'd found a home and a family. He'd found a job to do. And as scary as it was, Leo wasn't tempted to run— not even a little."

Overall, this book was really fun! I'm glad to be (finally) reading this series! I'm definitely looking forward to the next book!

Pretty good next series to Percy Jackson.

This started out really good and it ended really good. I loved the setup for the plot of this series. But unfortunately the characters really held this back. I tried to be a Jason apologist this time around and could not. He actually is really boring and doesn’t add much personality to the books. Piper wasn’t doing much either until the end. Leo was interesting enough but the three of them had such little chemistry with each other that it didn’t save anything. Only by the last 50 or so pages did I start to find their friendship compelling and believable. Jason and Piper’s romance was dull and they also had no chemistry. And all of them took so long to figure out literally anything. I missed Annabeth and Percy so bad.

I liked this one even more than the first series! I like the more mature tone while still keeping it light enough. I enjoyed the multiple point of views, which is always a hit or miss for me depending on how I feel about the characters, but luckily I like the three of them. Only thing I didn't like was how forced Jason and Piper's crush on each other felt (in the way it was written). Otherwise I had a great time, I love Leo, and can't wait to find out what happens next!
