Der zweite Band der Hunter und Garcia Reihe konnte mich wieder richtig gut fesseln.
Man steigt direkt in die Geschichte ein und die beiden Ermittler haben es wieder mit einen sehr brutalen Serienkiller zu tun. Einen der auf den erste Blick kein erkennbares Muster hat. Dabei sind eine Taten jedes mal sehr brutal. Die Szenen wenn die Leichen gefunden werden und was sie die Menschen wohl erdulden mussten so lang sie am Leben waren, hat bei mir immer für pure Gänsehaut gesorgt.
Woher nimmt der Autor seine Ideen?
Ich hing dem Sprecher, die ganzen Zeit an den Lippen. Achim Buch bringt die Geschichte mit allen Emotionen und schaurigen Situation wirklich gut rüber.
Ich fand die Auflösung absolut überraschend, man wird auf verschiedenen Fährten gelockt und dann kommt eine Auflösung daher, die man so gar nicht ins Auge gefasst hat.
Diesmal erfährt man einige Details aus Hunters Kindheit. Das macht ihn noch mal authentischer, und bei seinen Schicksal wird man ganz traurig, da es einen berührt.
Garcia passt mit seinen trockenen Humor sehr gut zu Hunter. Sie ergänzen sich gut. Ich mag die Dynamik die zwischen den beiden herrscht.
Die Reihe habe ich in mein herz geschlossen, da sie bis jetzt alles hat was ein guter Thriller braucht.

What a strong start as always for a Robert Hunter thriller. A priest found dead in a church blood splattered all around and the body mutilated. Oh I had chills from the off again with this book. Just when you think the deaths can't get more gruesome, Chris Carter hits it out of the park. Without giving too much away I don't think I will ever think of a steak frying the same way again. Grim but brilliantly descriptive writing.
I loved the introduction of their new Captain Barbara Blake. A no nonsense woman who speaks her mind and has a biting sense of humour. She really whips those detectives into shape. Also Molly a runaway medium/psychic girl who can feel other people's pain and is getting flashes of the murders. She is so sweet and well written you genuinely care what happens to her.
The tension builds and builds as the bodies start to mount up. But will they catch the killer in time before completing his tasks and disappear. At the same time as all this carnage prostitutes are turning up dead with their throats slashed it gives that extra level of threat and intrigue. So so good. This book will have you riveted and stuck to the end of your seat saying just one more chapter till you have reached its end. Read expertly by Thomas Judd as always.

Wow that kept me hooked from start to finish! Motive was easy to guess at a base level but I didn't see the killer being who it was. Will definitely be reading more of these in the future.
