Ok , I'll accept it , I'm an absolute Moron . Moron for starting this series so late . Thing is I didn't really like Red Hood during the New 52 , nor did I like Artemis much during the new 52 either . But obviously I forgot that Rebirth was all about fixing the mistakes of the New 52 and presto we have here Red Hood and the Outlaws (RHATO) with their first epic story arc "The Dark Trinity" and boy this one heck of a story arc .

Probably my favourite story arc in the Rebirth Era , The story follows Red Hood going undercover into the gang of Black Mask and through various circumstances meets Artemis and Bizzaro (who may or may not be the same Bizzaro from the Forever Evil saga)

There were a lot of positives to take in the series, the biggest of them is probably the art, I have always considered Nicola Scott's artwork at the Wonder Woman title as being the best in the Rebirth era but this art work by Dexter Soy is pretty awesome in it self and gives a lot of awesome panel to simply stare at and take it in .

Meanwhile in terms of plot , Lobdell first sets out to create a decent mystery and action plot that could easily have fitted right into one of the pre-new 52 Batman storylines , but the plot does more than just focus on the story and takes glee in describing the various characters , Starting & Focussing mainly on Red Hood but also covering Artemis , Bizzaro and Black Skull.

Red Hood's character is shown to be a sarcastic , wiseass who doesn't follow all the rules of Batman any more and yet craves for the attention of his only father figure in his life . Lobdell shows the reader how different Red Hood is from Batman but draws the line at an apt point to stop turning Red Hood into a villain like Black Mask . Throughout the series Red hood's past is revisited , his growth as a character explained and his jealousy towards other members of Bat - family explored .

Meanwhile Artemis and Bizzaro only get a fraction of moment to describe themselves and even then it worked out really well but most importantly Black Mask gets the best character portrayal in recent times , making him look truly the megalomaniac evil that he is .

Action scenes played out brilliantly , the team chemistry was created and explored nicely ... Overall it's simply one of the best and right now my favorite Rebirth title out there

The Dark Trinity story arc is an in-depth story of how the new Outlaws are formed and what they're going through. I like the idea of making a reference to the DC Trinity in forming the team and Lobdell was able to handle the story as well. The story always sets the bar higher and the art work is well done since issue #1. It does not left any stones unturned and it opened up a new mystery, a gateway to a new story arc. The relationship of Batman and Red Hood is well highlighted and how it will be a thing that will build up Red Hood's future and in the issues to come. All praise for this comics.

I really fucked up not reading this sooner. I also missed the final joke, so much of this issue was inscrutable for me. Excited to jump back in otherwise.
