The ending redeems this book because god it was slow to get moving.
Not as bad as book #4 but very very slow and very painful to read at times due to how little action there was. Really wish Clare had kept the same fast action-packed formula from the first 3 books cause that's what made them really stand out.
I've also noticed, reading these the second time around a lot older, that I don't find Jace and Clary's relationship as endearing. The whole you're my other half shtick seems so suffocating and realistically is a very unhealthy relationship dynamic to have.
Despite this, there are some wonderful bits in here, especially with regards to characters that have previously been overlooked.

I started this book in February... FEBRUARY!! And finished in July. And how - I hear you ask - did you manage to take such an astronomically long time to read a book? The answer: school. I really do hate it sometimes.
Anyway, back to the book. It was brilliant. When I finally moved on from being on page 12 for 6 months, I could not put it down. It was gripping, and I'm straight onto the next.
Also, I am still convinced that Cassandra Clare puts some sort of drug in her books.

Mucho love for this series! Cassie Clare has a GIFT for hooks and fight scenes. Could have given me a break on the constant scene setting, but it never made me want to put it down.
And can I call it now? Brother Zachariah HAS to be Will or Jem. Sister Cleophas has me wondering, too...
