Is there a social media detox camp for adults? That bookstagrammer life has turned me into an (occasional) Instagram spouse, and I might relate more to Sunny than I would have otherwise.
More and more, we rely on electronics to take care of all of our wants and needs. I appreciated how Suzanne addressed this culture change but didn't turn it into the "evil" in Sunny's life but, rather, that there's more to enjoy outside of them. Sunny's coming of age story is fun and relatable.
I've read another book by Suzanne and wasn't a huge fan (even though it was laugh out loud funny at times), but I've heard such good things about other books she's written. I wanted to try her books again. I'm glad I did! I enjoyed her humor and voice for Sunny.

Sunny Song has a list of summer goals none of which include spending the summer at a digital detox camp. After Sunny accidently live-streams a PG-13 brownie making video her parents decide the only way to help her is to get her away from her phone and out of LA. They decide to send her to a digital detox camp for teens located in Iowa. Sunny thinks her life is over but when she starts befriending a cute farm boy and making connections with other campers she starts to realize being away from her phone isn't all that bad.
This book was exactly as it sounded; a funny and light-hearted read. It lays it on a little thick at the end with social media dangers but Sunny's experiences as Korean American phone obsessed teen were spot on. A good recommendation for anyone looking for a good fun read.

This book follows Sunny Song a YouTuber and social media influencer who is sent away to a "teen farm social media rehab". I really wanted to like this book, but it just wasn't for me. That doesn't mean it isn't worth reading... I just for sure wasn't the intended market. This book is fairly anti-social media, which isn't a bad thing, but there is enough of it where it gets annoying.
I couldn't relate to Sunny and didn't care about anything that she cared about. The romance was pretty instant, but they did have cute moments. I really like Mya and felt like she was the best character in the book. There were some genuinely funny moments but sadly, I just wasn't invested.
The antagonist Wendy didn't feel fleshed out and I didn't understand what was fueling her. The real villain turns out to be the casual racism Sunny experienced. #OwnVoices representation is great and I did love seeing Sunny overcome the struggles she faced because she is an Asian American. Overall a cute romance for a younger audience.

This book is a light and breezy summer romance that tackles the topic of social media addiction and what it means to define yourself by likes and views. I loved that the book talked about online addictions without getting too preachy or completely condemning all social media (let's face it, no teenager wants to hear that all social media is evil). The romance is sweet, and the country-style summer camp shenanigans are super-fun. In the end, the book puts a spotlight on using social media for good!

It was fine. It wasn’t super engrossing, and the main character was mildly irritating, but it wasn’t bad. Overall just didn’t stick out to me.
I just finished SUNNY SONG WILL NEVER BE FAMOUS by Suzanne park & I just loved it so much! A teen influencer sent to a digital detox camp makes this a perfect summer read! I was cracking up while reading, the characters are memorable and I just love Sunny & the audio was such a blast!
