A great starting to one of the best fantasy series ever written.

I just loved this book. I think it came at a point in my life in which I really needed it. Just a story that isn’t afraid to take a breath and let you sit with the characters.

It’s so beautiful and so geeky and it has so much HEART. It’s what I feel like other novels of this size and magnitude lack (like Dune, but also no hate).

I really liked the way the book was paced, this grandiose action set-pieces full of lore lasted 20 pages and then you get a 60 page rest to just hang out with the characters.

My final note on this is that I was surprised by how obvious it is that these are all one book split up into three parts, which makes the ending of this book a little fluffy and lacking. But it just makes me all the more excited to read the next one! And see my beautiful gardening son Sam Gamgee again!

2.5⭐️ I love the movies and the creativity is great but it’s very slow going most of the time and and the version I have the font is tiny so it takes ages to read a page. Also there’s a lot of descriptions of the scenery and it’s actually hard to imagine it when there’s so much to try imagine and last thing is I much prefer a first person book than a 3rd person book
