Gripping from start to finish. I studied Classics and women to often get forgotten and I adore this trend of giving women of antiquity voices. This book is another wonderful gem in that trend and worth a read. 

The way mythology and Greek history is woven together is wonderful.

Maybe it’s because I read Costanza Casati’s “Clytemnestra” last year but this just didn’t measure up.

Mediocre in every way.

The writing  didn’t pull me in. The characters were flat & I just couldn’t care about them.
The story still had the dark and rough parts (cause mythology) but the writing & characters did not make it worth it.

Still, I’m glad I read it. I love Greek mythology & this had been on my TBR for years…

I really enjoyed Klytemnestra's perspective and story. (Though I'm still not sure how to pronounce her name). It was a story about true female strength and struggle. A woman, a mother, a daughter and a girl was all really beautifully represented in her story.
I love that the prologue could be seen as either sisters perspective. 
That being said, I must admit that I detested Helen in this retelling and I don’t think she deserved the ending she got.
