Synes kanskje den var litt langdryg i begynnelsen, men det tok seg etterhvert. Siste del av boken synes jeg var ganske spennende, og avslutningen synes jeg var fin.

Too slow for me

The most basic prose I've ever read. It doesn't get more basic than this... It gives the reader nothing. Even in what are meant to be intense or emotional moments, McCarthy gives the reader nothing. You're left to imagine EVERYTHING yourself. It's like going to a movie theater, watching some silent images, the characters have no facial expressions and make no gestures, there's no music or even some symbolism in the background to communicate SOMETHING, and then calling it the most moving and emotional film ever made. I love having to work for a book or to work with the auther to create the reading experience, but McCarthy doesn't do the latter and takes the former too far. The reader would be better off just writing the book herself. And the plot, themes and philosophies that I see this work appraised for... Are they in the room with us? Wow, I've never been tricked into reading something so... made up of empty air.

I have now seen two of his films, and this is the second book I read and didn't like any of them. His stories are so slow, and his characters lack personality, making them difficult to care about. Won't be picking up anything else from McCarthy.
