Ugh. This is everything. A few minor things that I didn't a hundred per cent love but other than those this is something I think I will simply adore forever.

tbh I devoured this book in one sitting. the writing style wasn't what I expected it to be and I've never read a verse style story but I really enjoyed this one. it was written exceptionally well and presents some important ideas in simple words. even though I'm not a black, gay man, I identified with a lot of the feelings/situations in the book and felt seen. would definitely recommend.

Quick but provocative YA read, written in verse! This is a great coming-of-age novel that draws on the character's sexuality, race and acceptance of oneself. I loved reading this verse and how it connected from one piece to the next. Any readers put off by the idea of verse in a novel: don't be! It's a very engaging and accessible text with short and sharp poems that keep you thinking long after you've turned the page.
