A beautiful verse novel that shows the struggle of growing up as black and gay, but also shows the beauty of finding yourself. Loved hearing Michael’s story.

Je pourrais parler de l'écriture. Parler de la douceur des mots et des personnages. Parler de la bienveillance profonde que j'ai ressenti pendant ma lecture. Mais ce ne serait pas assez pour dire combien j'ai aimé ce texte. Il y a longtemps que je ne me suis pas sentie aussi bien en lisant un livre, une véritable bulle de douceur.
Je ne devrais dire qu'un chose au fond : lisez ce livre.

This was very well done! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked the final scene featuring Michael's first drag performance as The Black Flamingo.

I think its a beautiful story of a young man trying to find himself. Very relatable and inspiring to many young people!

This was so so so so good! I LOVE Mike's voice, the coming of age narrative here, and how realistic/relatable everyone feels. This was a fantastic story about growing up black and gay, and the writing style made it even better.
