i love when women scam and cheat and lie for a little fun. ivy is that character. i do feel like this book was a lot of the same without anything that interesting happening, i think the author could’ve really leaned in, but i enjoyed it regardless. i see a girl who was willing to do whatever she needed to do to survive, get a leg up, & achieve what she thought would make her feel better (even though she really had no clue). i saw part of the ending coming & then the final twist was a bit like “really?” but i guess it makes sense?

overall a good middle of the road book.

2.5/5 stars I alternated between being bored and being sucked in, but more often bored.

First book of ‘22

Found the story hard to put down, but found the ending disjointed and a bit abrupt. I feel like I need to process this book for a few days before I really figure out my thoughts.

Attempted for my personal Jewish/AAPI readathon for May.

I'm on page 22 of Ivy's backstory being told in unnecessary detail waiting for the thriller to begin. The back half might be amazing, but if you're gonna do suspense, it would behoove you to, idk, be suspenseful? Begin as close to the inciting incident as possible? Girl I'm bored and I don't have time to waste on this lol.
