The only other book I've read by Mr. Massey was "Dark Corner," so I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one. Initially, I thought I would enjoy the premise, but I feel like Eric unraveled way too quickly - there was no real buildup to him suddenly thinking he was Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson's character in "Taken".) Alyssa's behavior struck me as odd as well. In one breath she is telling Eric to be careful, but she's doing her own digging and being extremely secretive (and then kind of pushy) when she wanted to pursue her own theories. I just don't think what little we knew about them up until Destiny went missing jibed with everything that came after.

The ending felt rushed and the reveal was very soap opera-y. I think this book had a lot of potential but it was not executed well and left a lot to be desired.

I miss his supernatural theme in his writings. This book was good with a twist that I appreciated, but also come to expect with his novels.

Bruh!

This story was so over the top. With each twist and turn it got to be more of out of control. The nonsense was so plentiful that it was almost comical. The suspense was good. It made me want to keep reading to see how it would all come together. There were some elements in the book that reminded me of Massey’s book, The Quiet Ones. He even threw in a crazy twist like the old Robin Williams movie The World According to Garp. I could appreciate that because I used to love that equally ridiculous movie. I can’t say that this was a great piece of literature, but it was definitely entertaining.
