Eleanor is a young bisexual girl who has always have a crush on her best friend Ray. Both of them work at the same place, and Eleanor is nurturing a total one way love toward Ray. Eleanor has decided on the first day of the year to live a wilder life. And so she begins to loosen up : she's getting a tatoo, is tempted by a threesome, and so on.
One day, after a really big party, a wild idea emerge : buying a house with her friends Ray, Jamie and Wil, and begin a new life on the countryside. And there, it becomes more difficult for Eleanor for not telling Ray all her feelings.
I'm not really used to LGBT romances but not by a lack of interest, only by a lack of references. And I was very pleased by this slow burn trope, and friends to lovers. I would simply say that some parts were a little bit long (some descriptions, some facts), but otherwise, it is a really sweet story.
(3.5/3.75) This was a sweet book about friendship and love and doing wild things. I enjoyed watching El move out to the country with her friends and progress with her life. I liked the interactions between the friends. Especially seeing them fix up their home. This was a fun one and a good listen. (Thx PRH Audio for the ALC)

The premise of this book - found family, queer community- was really intriguing to me. The writing itself was pretty funny and enjoyable, a very easy and light escapist read.
The book fell flat for me with the romance and honestly I would’ve preferred it if they hadn’t included that plot point at all. The MC goes on and on about how wonderful the love interest is, how they are besties and pines after her for 90% of the book. which would be fine if the love interest wasn’t such a dick! friends to lovers is a trope that doesn’t work when one of the characters is an objectively bad friend!!
she had so much potential, but this just wasn’t it for me :/

cute, easy listen/read!!
What a fun little queer slow burn love story!! Made me laugh, and also made me want to move to the countryside and raise chickens. Just a liiiittle bit too slow of a slow burn for me personally
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, unfortunately I read it alongside something very exciting so I found this to be a little boring. I did really like the characters and the setting though!
it was okay! i wanted more and better for el. i wish the characters had more depth, especially el - whose entire character arc was centered around ray (who i got a manic pixie dream girl vibe from). loved the premise and setting, just wanted more from it! overall an okay book, probably wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend to a friend but wouldn’t steer people away either.
I loved this book. Reading it was like a hug. I loved the characters, I loved the premise, I loved the banter, I loved the families, I loved their sweet little English countryside community. It’s probably (definitely?) my favorite romcom I’ve ever read.
I went back and forth between Kindle and audio for this, and highly recommend the audiobook version — the narrator is lovely and perfectly captures the characters.

Absolutely LOVED every bit of this book. Really loved El and all her failings. Loved Laura’s writing style. Just loved everything about it
