One of the most amazing books I've ever read. Reminiscent in some ways of Einstein's Dreams, a tiny books with huge ideas. Beautifully written, fascinating concepts.
Gets repetitive, but really enjoyed it overall. Easy read!

When I was a freshman in college in 2009, a friend showed me a few stories from this book on a bus trip. They've stuck with me all this time, particularly "Descent of Species" (the other one is "Sum"), and I even spent a considerable amount of time trying to track down this book with the man-turning-into-a-horse story from my hazy teenage memory. Now, having read the whole book, I think the one that stayed on my mind is still the strongest. A lot of these stories were kind of meh or forgettable, a few even bordering on lame. I laughed at the one where males and females lived on separate planets and everyone was miserable. The whole book is written from a very obviously male perspective and that one was probably the peak - who else would believe that women would be lost and their lives devoid of meaning without men around? But overall, while there are few true standouts, I think this was a quick and entertaining little collection.
