This audiobook took me forever to read, which is weird because I was enjoying it.

I jusy love reading about rich people drama. The beginning of this was really good and I was interested, but then in the middle I was kind of bored because it just felt repetitive. I wish there was more present chapters because I would honestly forget that someone was killed. *slight spoiler* Then the last little bit was actually shocking because I didn’t expect such a dark topic to be in this.

The slowest burn I've ever read from a thriller. Only picked up at the 7 hour mark. Which is a little unfortunate that you spend 7 hours listening to only get 2 hours of intriguing action.

Listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it - the voice acting was great and the plot was intriguing. I did find some of the writing repetitive, but the ending really saved the whole book for me.

One of Us is Dead was a funny tale of how being a Karen will get you murdered. Jenny owns Glow, an upscale salon that caters to the “finest” women in Buckhead. She is the central point for all things in her clients lives. From affairs to revenge, a lot of the plot takes place in Glow.

This novel started strong with an opening that hooked me by the first page. The characters were full of personality and some had more complexities than others. The premise of the book is we start in the present with Jenny explaining to Detective Sanford how the murder occurred. But we have no clue who is actually dead.

The tale is a telling of all the events that lead up to the death of a prominent member of Buckhead. And as you read on it might become pretty clear on who ends up dead. The who wasn’t surprising to me in fact, both the author and the editor probably wanted it to be obvious. What is surprising is the how and who ends up murdering them.

All in all, this was an entertaining read. It gives desperate housewives and gossip girl vibes. The ending was rushed and the style of present vs past telling was a nice addition to the story. If you enjoy reading about rich white women gossip and skeam for revenge then this will be the book for you.

*****THE FOLLOWING SECTION MAY BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS, READERS DISCRETION ADVISED******

There were little things that didn’t add up in the book like characters programming phones to burners??? How would they know how to do that? And it took a while to get to “who was killed” reveal. I’m a little disappointed that who I thought was dead actually turned out to be dead. It’s quite obvious throughout the book as the character is one of the most hated.

Reading the book it’s pretty obvious it was going to be her that ended up dead. She was an awful person. The person who kills her though? Definitely did not expect that.

I absolutely adored and devoured this book. This was such a fun read and I loved the audiobook, it was so fun and entertaining to listen to all the different characters POVs and the alternating timelines. This was funny, drama-filled, entertaining, engaging, fast paced, and jaw dropping. I seriously had so much fun with this book, it was unlike anything I'd ever read! However, I think it's important to point out a problem I had with the book. One of the characters refers to another character (in a wlw relationship) as a "carpet muncher." This is totally unacceptable. The character who says it is objectively evil, however, the author should have left this homophobic comment out of the book completely. There was absolutely no need to add this comment in, especially when the character had already been fully developed as evil and a terrible person. There is absolutely no reason or excuse, that in 2022, a homophobic comment should be put in a book. It was very disappointing to see. I know there was another comment along the same lines, made my the same character earlier in the book. I don't own a physical copy so I'm unable to look it up, but it's disheartening to see that this happened twice within the same book. I hope this author chooses to educate themselves and do better in the future.
