Short novella that felt slow at times but definitely enjoyed the sisters and their learning of rootwork

Thoughts

Okay, this may just be in the running for favorite reads of 2023 (because I already wrapped up 2022).

Most of this book is a sweet story of sisters learning rootwork from their aunt. But there is the horror tied in of racism. And the racist sheriff who does what white sheriff's are known to have done.

But boy the vengeance in this book is sweet!

I was not expecting that ending and it was great. I truly think this is a book for everyone not just horror lovers. But you should note the content warnings. It is a bit graphic at one part.

I know I like a lot of books but seriously y'all check this one out!
