A genuine second chance romance! Off the Record is a romance once forbidden in the mafia world, but given a chance to rekindle under dire circumstances.
Annika walked away from her first love, only to marry a man who would end up being her worst nightmare, making her believe she's unworthy of love. Disclaimer: If Annika's husband wasn't already dead, I would've gladly killed him myself!
When she starts receiving blackmail, and rival clans are being murdered, the families must come together to figure out who's behind the threats. Rafe has never stopped loving Annika, so when she's in danger and thrust back into his life, he's determined to never let her go.
This book had my heart in my throat, and the audiobook brought it to life perfectly. I've enjoyed this spin-off series so much and I can't wait to binge-read the entire With Me in Seattle series again!

Okay, this one was supposed to be reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, I guess, if Juliet had some weirdly contrived sex gang SA shit thrown in that makes no sense.
Book one features a wedding between Annika and Rich, where book one's love interests mingle before there's a murder at the reception. This is important because it means that the love interest in book 3, Annika, is shown in the timeline. Suddenly now we're getting this stuff about Rich basically torturing her, when we KNOW the timeline of their wedding and it was basically a couple of weeks. AND she never implies any of this, she's forthcoming with him monitoring her food and hitting her, but says she was too ashamed about the sex ring stuff - fine I can forgive that. But the timeline just makes no sense. If they'd been married for a couple years or something, sure, but this just felt squeezed in for no reason (they could have had some other thing from Annika's past come up, it didn't have to be something the reader already knows lasted no time at all). I don't know, it just bugged me, and made the whole book hard to take seriously.
Rafe seems like the best love interest of the three to me, but for their love being so 'end all be all,'he sure accepted it ending in college pretty easily, and all their flirting before this book seemed so teasing and light hearted, it didn't seem like "we were together for three years" level of commitment.
All in all, I'm kinda just glad to be done, and I'm not gonna read anymore by this author. I'm sure she's great for some people, but just not for me.

I have been dying for Annika and Rafe's story and it was everything I had hoped for. From the first book in the mafia series you could tell there was some serious chemistry and heat simmering between these two. This story did not disappoint and provided all the smolder, angst and yearning I could handle, without putting their coupling off too long. They are honest with the other about what they are feeling and their communication throughout the story made my heart happy. The drama and mystery in this book is fast paced and there was a lot going on, some of which I found resolved a little too quickly, but it kept me on the edge of my seat quickly turning pages.
I am so happy Annika finally got her HEA! I can't wait to see if they drop into future Seattle stories!
The audiobook was absolute perfection. Jason Clarke was the perfect protective Rafe and Erin Mallon brought a lot of power and ferocity to Anika, bringing her strong independent character to life.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Okay, y'all. So good. Sooooo good! I've loved both of the other books in Kristen's With Me In Seattle Mafia series, but I was so excited to get to Rafe's and Annika's book. These two have been slow-burning their way through both UNDERBOSS and HEADHUNTER, and I just knew that when we finally got to see them together that they would combust. Was I right? Oh, yes...
I've said before that a mafia read is not always my favorite. I mean, I'm no wimp, but, you know, the whole blood and guts and killing thing is a bit of an acquired taste. But what is ALWAYS at the top of my list is any and every book by Kristen, because I have been in love with her writing since the very first trip to Seattle, and every place in between. And because Kristen has written these books, I have happily dived right in, and am so glad that I did.
I am more than happy with the way that everything is tied up so nicely (with plenty of suspense, and, you know, la familia, in between), offering the big picture behind the three smaller parts, and seeing this family feud finally come to a very happy ending. If you haven't jumped in yet, now's the time. And while all of them are technically standalones, you're going to want to start at the beginning so that you'll know who's who and what's what. And when you do, you'll love them all. Enjoy! ❤️
