As a Canadian who has only recently gotten into comics, I had to order the facsimile edition of Alpha Flight #1 when I saw it offered. Yes, it's early '80s, and I'm not a fan of the comic art style of that era, but it's set in Canada, some of it in a city less than an hour from where I was born. The double-sized issue was enough to really feel like I was getting to know a bit of what the series was like, though an unexpected joy was seeing the 1983 advertisements reproduced and imagining subscribing to comics for 42 cents per issue and cover prices of 60 cents (unlike the $4.99 shown on the cover of 2019's facsimile).

This does tempt me to look for more Alpha Flight, even with all the cheese. Makes me wish I had been a young comic reader when these were coming out!
