very white queer liberal and it shows. fanfiction-esque writing with so astonishingly little to say on the intersections and nuances of ambrose and kodiak’s identities, which are quite thoughtlessly used for romantic tropes and little else. 

and it is honestly my fault for being disappointed by that, because target audience for this is children.

The romance aspect fell short in a couple of places but the plot was really good and I genuinely was shocked and amazed in a couple of places. I cried a couple of times too.
