Escaping Exodus

What a weird and wild book. It was exciting, thought provoking, and beautiful. I would love to see more stories set in this world.

To sum up, humans left earth a thousand ish years ago. At some point they figured out how to inhabit one of the space squids they encountered so they've been doing that for at least a few hundred years, but now things are getting dicey.

The whole culture is matriarchal and poly-amorous and many of the characters seem to be expected to be bi-sexual, at least.

But that's more... Slightly mind bending world background than the crux of the story, which is "can we truly continue infesting these creatures and this one in particular".

Pretty fascinating stuff.

This book was very interesting. There commentary on climate change, gender roles, racism, and classism were very well done. I liked their writing style. The learning curve is very steep for this one. A lot of terms and things get thrown at you real fast and it’s easy to get lost or confused. This book would definitely benefit with the addition of a glossary and/or a family unit explainer. I still don’t have a firm grasp on that. Overall, I really like their work and will read their other books.

I really enjoyed this! It was slow in a plot heavy kinda way, but that made the story seem to last longer in a way that I liked. The worldbuilding was great, and I was super into the characters and concept. Can’t wait to read the sequel!

This book was not bad but also not with a writing style that hooked me and kept me interested enough to really like it. The characters all seemed a bit flat so I didn't care enough.

The first book I've read in a while that made me feel things.
