I used to love reading these in junior high, but they haven't exactly held up through the test of time. These books were reissued in 2008 with references to blogging, laptops, CDs, and The Fast and The Furious.
The twins' lives seem so much more carefree and shallow than today's teenagers. In an age of school shootings, would today's jaded teens really be shocked by a head cheerleader dating the captain of the basketball team or another teen getting a police warning for going out with an older drag racer?

Look who's back! It's our favorite twins Elizabetha nd Jessica Wakefield. I got this pre pub in and I thought it was a joke. Cougar thought Francine Pascal was dead. My guess is that they are rereleasing these gems of my childhood. I'm so happy!
So it looks like Bantam is trying to compete with Gossip Girl and all the Priv. Chick Lit out there. This book has been edited so it's less 1987 and more 2008. Jessica and Elizabeth are now a size 4 instead of a "perfect size 6." I guess they were too fat before. They no longer drive a Spider or hang out at the Dairy Barn or whatever. It's a tao stand and they drive a Jeep. And the high school newspaper is now a blog. Everything else is pretty much the same, only now it's clear how pathetic and naive and sqeaky clean the Wakefield Twins are compared to Serena and Blair.
