Fuuuuuuu-
Why is there not a 5 million star option?

I put off reading this final book in the trilogy for almost a year because I was so scared it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But this book was everything I needed and more. That first page hits you like a sucker punch but also grips you and the story doesn't let you go until the very end. This was such a worthy conclusion of one of my favourite series of all time. I will adore Beartown forever and am so happy that we got that final chapter.

I have trouble giving Backman anything less than 5 stars. He has a way of understanding humans so deeply and the ability to put it all so simply. This book gave us an incredible ending to the story and characters I have loved throughout the series. While we knew what was going to happen, I still found myself crying.

My only qualm with this book in particular is that it gave us too much. Too many pages of foreshadowing the same event over and over again.

That being said, I’ll be reading and recommending anything by Backman. He’s just that good.

I adore the Beartown series and am sad to see it end.

This story captures so beautifully what it means to be human and all that we're capable of... the best, the worst, and everything in between. It is emotional and captivating, at times heartbreaking, funny, tense and hopeful.

Backman's characters are wonderfully complex, imperfect like the rest of us, and utterly lovable (or at least most of them...).

This epic final of the trilogy felt both sloppy, unrealistic, tumblr-girl-ish, overwritten and brutal, imaginative and heartwarming/breaking at the same time. There were more characters than in a Dosztojevszkij novel, and I felt that some of them were unneccessary, and the writing was so sentimental at times, especially conversations, that it felt like it was written by a tumblr girl who was trying to be deep. These parts were really hard to get through for me. BUT I think the stories are quite brilliant, and probably were inspired by real life events in Backmans life. And I love the "original" characters a lot, that's why I finished it. And I wasn't disappointed, so if you like lengthy books and his writing style, I definitely recommend it. Long live Björnstad! (And Hed, of course.)
