A thought-provoking, raw, authentic collection of character storylines that are elegantly woven together. Bachman does an excellent job choosing Feminist themes and tells the same story from two perspectives based on differences of social status, upbringing, and love of all kinds, across the two hockey towns. Powerful, full characters who make me laugh, cry, and feel deeply.

I look forward to reading over and over again.

I can’t believe this series has come to an end. A piece of my heart is permanently residing in Beartown. This series was beautiful, elegant, complex, and all the things. The Winners rounded out the series so gorgeously. All of the characters got their endings. All of the love that I already had grew deeper. I will read this book again and again and again.

In Backman fashion, he did it again. I really liked this trilogy. His writing was great and lyrical as always. I like all the topics he tackled in this book as well as found family that was formed with the main characters. However, I did feel like this book could've been 100 pages shorter and I was really caught off guard by the abundance of new characters introduced. Although I did enjoy the politics of the books, I'm not going to lie I did find it difficult to grasp, but politics is a pretty foreign concept to me so I guess that was on me. And speaking of the politics I still can't seem to understand what was Richard Theo's agenda in the end and how he had such indirect influence on such a small town. But overall, I still like the book and do recommend the trilogy.
it sucks that no one will ever know what happened to Ruth😔; also I still will never forgive Ana for putting Benji the way she did (I was side-eyeing her the whole book)
One critic I will draw from this book thought was the lack of ultra-femininity. Maybe that's just how the female characters were supposed to be, but it kind of annoyed me that they all had to be strong and tough all the time. Also, I was hoping Leo would get more of an arc this book considering what happened in the second book, but I guess that was okay.

I LOVE this series - I started reading the Beartown series when I lived in a cold, dark place and it saved me.

Ich habe Backman zwischendurch echt gehasst, aber am Ende war es perfekt.
