It always takes me longer than I think it will to finish a Fredrik Backman novel, but they are always, always worth it. What a stunning story and such a beautiful, heartbreaking ending to this series.

If it is even possible to measure all the “if only”s and “if that hadn’t”s because when it comes down to it, that’s really all life is. This is a quote from the book that I feel like beautifully encapsulates exactly what this whole series has been about. There are so many moments that we were witness to as he tells all the stories of this small town, Beartown.

And, let me tell you, the last 10 chapters are beyond heartbreaking and if you aren’t moved to tears, you’re made of stone. Benji’s death hit me the hardest of all of it. I cannot believe how that ending came to be. What a scary  representation of the realities that we all face every day in the world we live in.

Such a beautiful depiction of real life. Through the lens of a hockey team and the people deeply entrenched in and around that team.

Loved it and hated it in equal measure, loved it because of how emotionally wrecked it left me. Hated it for the same reason!
It speaks to how beautifully written it is and how well the characters are brought to life that I didn't get tired of the slow pace, I was hooked. I was also completely sobbing by the end. I really enjoyed having Hed characters who allowed us to see Beartown and the events of the last two books through a different perspective both in terms of how these new characters experienced those events and showing a comparison to other people's similar but different stories.

I don’t think I’m ever going to read a Frederik Backman book and feel like it’s less than a 5.0. I was very nervous going into this book because It had been so long since I had read about the characters and I felt like it had wrapped up in the last book. But when I read this book I realized how much more of that story there was to tell. I loved all of the story even though it often broke my heart. This author just really understands how to make you care about people and how to make those people realistic and flawed but at the same time amazing and can connect the entire story and wrap it up in a away I’ve never seen before. You just have to read the series. Especially for this ending of this book. I definitely cried.

Omg. Omg. 😭 so good. What an amazing conclusion to Beartown.  What an amazing author and a wonderful translator. FB's characters are so multi faceted and so real. Amazing.
