I liked the simplicity of most of the recipes with some interesting twists to some classic recipes coming from the author's family history of living in Uganda and the UK.
like most uk cookbooks there is a lot more use of wt in measurements which if you don't have a kitchen scale requires some work converting.

A must-have if you like Indian cuisine. Meera Sodha taught me how to make Indian food more Indian without making it more complicated. Her cookbook delivers exactly what it promises in the title: delicious Indian meals that you can easily make in your non-Indian home. Most of the time, the ingredients aren't even that hard to get, though of course it is more fun to get your spices at the Asian grocer (where they will also be cheaper and better quality).
I have tried many recipes over the past two years and a few have become routine ones even for over the week. The salmon curry with spinach is my personal favourite, I just can't get over the fantastic spice blend in this recipe. The pistacchio chicken curry is real comfort food - creamy and fatty. I also love to make Kachumbar as a side dish whenever I feel like a fresh lemony salad. The biryani is a bit of a challenge but a fun recipe for a rainy Sunday. And there are many many more in this book we have enjoyed.

Every recipe I've tried in this book has been delicious, yet easy to make. These are not complicated recipes—Sodha's instructions are clear and prep time is short—but they still provide a great deal of flavor, sometimes in surprising layers.
I especially recommend the beet & feta samosas.

SO DELICIOUS. Easy to follow recipes and so authentic. My one complaint is that filo dough is literally the most difficult thing to work with, but the samosas were delicious!

A rare cookbook where I might actually make decent use of the dessert chapter.

This is hands down the best cookbook I've ever seen. The recipes are easy and everything I've tried so far tastes amazing. I got it for Christmas 2019 and so far (November 2020) I have cooked something from it at least twice a week since I got it. I'm not exaggerating, this book is absolutely great.
