One of my dearest friends gifted me this collection shortly after my dog passed away unexpectedly. Mary Oliver's words wrapped around my grief and squeezed it until all the tears poured out. The love between a pet and its family is something that can be so difficult to put into words, I know I've struggled to do it. Now, when I miss my girl, I read Oliver's writing, cry, and remember I'm not alone. That this is a known pain, and there are hands to hold me. Bravo, Ms. Oliver. A true work of beauty.
