The world, story and concepts I really liked, just… the rishathra thing is pure cringe, and there's so much of it throughout the book

Продолжение на мой взгляд ничуть не хуже стартовой книги. Но конечно изначального эффекта изумления идеей автора уже нет, по сути это просто другой сюжет в том же окружении, ничего нового не придумано.

Equal to the first one. More science-y, I felt.

The immersion of the ring world is sadly quite broken in this slightly bizarre sequel.

The reason to the return to the ring world and what the characters have been doing in the meantime is quite thin and out of character.

The Connery-James-Bond-Esque misogyny is so constant and in your face that it will ruin the book for a lot of people. Women are stupid, weak and want to have sex all the time. Men and strong, geniuses and irresistible sex objects.

The plot is a haphazard meander through the ring world. There are some new facts about the ring world but written in such a chaotic manner, constantly interspersed with sex scenes, that it’s a messy and rushed read.
