Dalton was not looking for love but when he finds it will he have the courage to grab it with both hands?

I really enjoyed Dalton. He suffers a pain no parent wants. He finds solace but is determined to never find love. And then he meets Aurora. Aurora isn't looking for love but when Dalton explodes into her world she finds herself taken and protected by this wounded warrior. I love that Aurora allows Dalton to find peace, even as danger stalks her. I love that she gives of herself and grabs hold of Dalton's heart when he isn't looking. I love that she allows Dalton to be even though she knows his leaving will cause pain.

This story is well written and full of friendship and love. I laughed and cried but enjoyed the journey. I can't wait to see where Ms. O'Leary will take us next.

I read this book the first time in the previously released anthology. So much fun to read it again.
Dalton and Aurora are a great couple. He had such painful baggage, could he fight through and get his HEA? There was some unexpected danger in this book that was totally heart racing. Great, entertaining storyline with the emotional feels.

Dalton still feels the loss of his young daughter at the hands of his late wife. He feels he should have been there more to ensure Reagan's safety. But fate has ore in store for Dalton. Whilst out in the wilds he comes across the lovely Aurora and her horse when someone takes pot shots at them.

Aurora is an ace horsewoman but she surely lives in world of her own making. She doesn't want to believe that someone could hate her enough to want to hurt her. But with her investigation into a ring of abuse against horses, she may be closer to discovering the truth than she thought.

Aurora and Dalton both need each other in ways they wouldn't expect. Each mends the others heart and soul. I loved that whilst they were quick to fall into bed, the relationship and their troubles extends over a longer period of time, giving them the opportunity to see life outside of their little lust filled bubble!

Not a bad book. It had an interesting premise, the characters were likable, but the hero used way too much flowery descriptions and "inner thoughts". Even though the characters were likable, I felt like there could have been a little more depth to them.
Also, the author desperately needs an editor. If she had one, she needs to fire them. There were so many errors it made reading it frustrating at times.
All in all, an OK book, not sure I'd go read more from the series, nothing pulled at me.

This was my back up selection for Romanceopoly 2020 Soldier Street. I think I must have gotten it on sale at some point but it has been sitting in my Kindle library for a long time. I don't have much to say about Her Guarded Hero.

Overall, it was a fine romantic suspense book. I love to read romance, but I would have enjoyed this one more if there had been more tension on the suspense side of things. I didn't particularly care for Aurora but I thoroughly enjoyed the layers of Dalton's background story.

So I don't know. I think this is just going to call for a shoulder shrug and an "alright."
