I only should say a few words to convince someone to read this: magic boarding school based on phases of the moon, cult-like society, mystery, an adventure, gorgeous writing and diverse characters. What more could you want??? Also Baz and Emory forever have my heart and need more moments together in the sequel.

AND NOW I HAVE TO WAIT 8 MORE MONTHS FOR THE NEXT BOOK?! *a bookworm's true pain*

Bottom line is that I need more books like this desperately

This book was actually REALLY good.....I was not expecting all of the plot twists, reveals and layered mysteries. The beginning was a bit of a cringe to get through with the early dynamic between the MFC and MMC, but after that it was a much smoother compelling read. I really loved the complexities of the magic system as well as characters. Looking forward to the sequel!!

over all this was okay? i liked the writing and the world, but the character dynamics left me slumped. certain things were predictable, but over all this managed to keep my interest despite the rather slow pace.
I have a strong a love-hate relationship with Emery, but i think that her arc might be quite promising, hopefully? might read the next one if i have nothing better to do.

I want to try reading this book again eventually - I should like it! But A fifth to a fourth of the way into the book I'm still not into the world... So I'm going to pass and read other books for now.

If you are a prose person this book is for you, the writing and the flow of the words is absolutely great. I wish we got to learn more about all of the different magic types with each moon phase and maybe why those are linked as they are but maybe we will learn that in book two which I already put a hold on.
