loved it but the plot was kinda predictable so it was annoying when the mc took so long to figure it out. Plus the same information was repeated as if it were new again and again

I went into this expecting a generic YA fantasy, and was shocked to find that it actually had a remarkably detailed world and magic system! I have become very attached to Baz and Kai. So much so that I have already downloaded the sequel and will be starting it immediately.

Good book. Original concept, as far as I know. Might've been better if this was a series, in order to flesh out the world more.
FMC was annoying sometimes, kept secrets for no reason, lied constantly to MMC again for no reason, chose the absolute wrong people to trust, which was obvious to the reader from the start. On top of all this, she was manipulative to literally the only character in this book that cared about her. Her manipulation was also like, really badly done. Like as a reader you sometimes cringe at her fakeness. "She smiled demurely, " like girl no. You've already got Baz wrapped around your finger, goodness knows why, you don’t need to be all subtle about it.
MMC was more enjoyable as a character, and a better person overall, but was stuck doing boring things or nothing at all for the majority of the book, wasted potential really.
I felt that the FMC's obsession with her best friend's "death" to be borderline unhealthy. Maybe this wasn’t the book for me.
The pace was really, really slow, it took over a month to finish it. The suspense only increases towards the end of the book, and by then you've already read 350 pages of pure build-up, info-dumping about the world, investigating logic feels so so stupid that you may as well continue.
The entire connection with the Song of the Drowned Gods and Dovermere and the Tides and Shadow felt flimsy and something a drunk eight year old would come up with, in my humble opinion, and wasn’t an adequate stand-in for actual world-building. The whole conspiracy with Eclispe-borne and the Unharrowed Seal and the synths was very satisfying though.
