I really liked the storyline of this book but I struggled with the writing style. It has long sentences which follow the character’s train of thought which can flit back and forth a lot, making it hard to follow. Also, speech isn’t indicated in speech marks. It meant I stopped and started it a few times, but I’m glad I read it. I was hoping the story would be more conclusive but overall I enjoyed it and I’m glad I finished it.

I wanted to like this more than I did. I realized that I do not like reading about COVID. I thought the author’s prose could help me overcome that personal bias, but I’m not sure it did. I haven’t read her other work though, but I will definitely check it out.
