It's a really good story. There's some instances where I would have liked the author to expand on but overall a really good book.

Phoenix Taylor, project manager extraordinaire, plans to collect her fat bonus from Everything You Need for building cabins on Palmer Island. There’s only one hitch to her well-laid plan--Tony Creed, general contractor of Creed Construction, who’s won the contract hands down, and his mesmerizing smile and hypnotic green eyes. She pegs him as trouble the moment he walks into the room. Phoenix has recovered physically from a horrific incident in her past, but she has closed her heart off, and only plans to keeps things physical as far as relationships are concerned. She would’ve loved nothing more than to write Tony Creed off without another thought, but her boss had other plans.

Tony Creed has his own set of issues--those of a familial nature. His stress level is at its breaking point, but he’s allowed himself to be cajoled into taking this final job before he can go a vacation that has eluded him for some time. He didn’t bargain on meeting Phoenix Taylor, nor did he expect he might not be able to resist acting on the incendiary chemistry they share. As they complete what was supposed to be a six-month job earlier than planned, could they also not leave Palmer Island alone as they each intended?

I’ve said it once, and it bears repeating: Melissa Blue writes some of the best banter between romance protagonists I’ve seen in some time. It’s intelligent without being pretentious. It’s smart without being too snarky. It’s sexy without be too over-the-top. Also, her characters while multi-ethnic usually find other areas of conflict to tackle in her stories rather than race itself. And did I also mention how brief they are? It’s the perfect size for me to read in one sitting. I came away satisfied, yet again, with a romance that keeps me engaged and has a message. You can’t go wrong with a Melissa Blue romance!
